This showcase was created to highlight projects that I have created using the technology tools that I learned during my time in the Michigan State Educational Technology Masters program.  My goal when I began this program was that I would be able to learn many new technologies that would help me create rigorous, innovative but most importantly effective lesson plans for my students.  The theme that I was going here on my showcase was to show my growth as an educator as a result of gaining these new technological skills.  I wanted to be able to show anyone how many great projects can be created with the free technologies available online.  These projects also emphasize the power of TPACK and its effect on my lesson planning.  I want my school site who is adopting TPACK as our technology model to see what you can do with technology if properly used in the classroom.

Big Kahuna Project

This is a website that is supposed to be a stand alone project where students get introduced to the Bill of rights and how important it is to our daily lives. This website was set up for students to be able to log on and watch both Youtube videos and lecture videos to each amendment to be able to figure out the importance of that amenmdent to the way we live our lives as Americans.   I was able to incorportate Google Docs, Prezi, online surveys and Facebook into this online course.

Haiku LMS WWII Course

Haiku is a Learning Management system that allows teachers and administrators to create online world of classes.  It allows you to recreate most of the aspects of a physical classroom but on an online setting.  I used the Haiku LMS to create a World War II online unit where students must log in to view and analyze readings, notes, images and video.  I created assignments and assessments for students to be able to work with online while they got some assisstance from me in the physical classroom.  I really enjoyed this project because my school district also uses Haiku for their online classes and I knew this would give me the training I would need to be able to teach online classes in my district.

Wicked Problem Project

This project's main goal was to find a problem in our classrooms that applying an annovative technology could help improve.  This project made me examine my lessons and content for the year and find a weakness that could be helped by technology.  I found it quickly and I feel like this presentation demonstrates how I successfully used technology to change how my students learned about the Populist and Progressive moveents.  Very useful project that was applied to my classroom this Fall.

Prohibition StAIR

I really enjoyed creating this StAIR (Stand Alone Instructional Resource) project on Prohibition because it showed me the great benefits that PowerPoint has that I didn't know existed.  You can create stand alone projects that your students can work on completely on their own and away from the classroom.  This project allows students to take their understanding of the content to another level.  PowerPoint allows you to have an interactive presentation in which students have choices of where to start and is basically a whole lesson on one PowerPoint project.

Educational Success Prezi

This project was my first experience with dealing with Prezi and I thought it was great.  This program allows you make interactive presentations while still being able to make full customizations. As a result of this project, I now use this technology in my classroom when students want to make a quick presentation.  I feel that it has benefits that PowerPoint does not have and as a result of this project, my students are now using it.

This was by far the most challenging project that I created in the MAET program.  This project required us to analyze the effectiveness of several online journals and apply statistical analysis to see which research was most effective and most useful.  It made us use statistical analysis to see some of the positives and negatives of the research we do and whether that research is actually valid.
