Wall of License Plates - This is how I represent the United States in the my U.S. History Class.  I wanted something diffferent so I got the license plate of every state and every licence plate of my home state of California going back to the 1940s.  Students get a kick of seeing how each state represents itself on their license plates.

Document based Question (DBQ) Essay prompt.  We are tyring to have our students do more analysis of documents on their own and be able to write an essay by simply providing them an essential question.  I am also giving students the opportunity to create a web page instead of a written essay.

This is my literacy wall.  As a result of our new common core starndards, we are working much more literacy strategies to help our students learn how to take out the main ideas of a reading and be able to demonstrate mastery of the content.

Historical documents that were key to the building of this country.  Throughout the first month of school, we concentration of these documents and analyze them using literacy techniques like Talking to the Text and I saw, I thought charts.  It's just a way of representating the early history of our country.

Posters - I try to have as many posters as possible to make connections through the year as we get to different contents.  Visuals are very important and I use them as much as possible.

Visual history timeline - This is 16 foot timeline that I created this summer to help my students understand the years each unit encompasses.  It begins with 1800 and goes through 2000.  I wanted them to see what units overlapped over the same time period and how our country sometimes had many different things going on at the same time.  It has worked pretty great so far.
