The following page is a representation of all the classes I completed as I pursued my master's degree in educational technology at Michigan State University.  My educational path began with three classes that specialized in introduction of many of today's most popular Web 2.0 programs.  Overall, this program was a combination of technology and educational strategies that can be used to make your lesson design much more effective.  Below, you will find information on each course, as well as some of the assignments I completed in those courses.

I was really looking forward to starting this course because I was my first course in educational technology.  I feel that this course did not disappoint.  We were introduced to popular technologies such as blogs, RSS feeds, and podcasts that can be used as tools in the classroom.  These technologies allowed us to stay informed about technology and provided more opportunities to our students in the classroom.  I was also really excited about being introduced to Google programs such as Google Docs and Google Sites.  Great start to the program.

This was the second of three classes of the technology certificate.  It was also another great source of new technologies that can be used in your classroom.  The course centered around the creation of a Stand Alone Instructional Resource (StAIR). A StAIR presents material to students and also provides methods for students to assess what they have learned.  A StAIR utilizes technology and provides students with an alternate form of presenting a portion of the curriculum.

This class was the last of the technology certificate and provided many opportunities to work with new technologies. This class concentrated on the physiological perspectives of learning and different educational approaches. We worked with the idea of active learning through school, home, community and work.

This course concentrated on the idea of creating the Wicked Problem Project. This project began from day one and was the most important part of each week's lessons.  You were required to find a problem in your classroom that technology could help solve.  We also began working with blogs for the first time which was used to discuss our progress with the Wicked Problem Project.

This course was a course that I really found to be interesting and helpful for my current technology situation at my school site.  In this course, we discussed at what missional thinking was and how we could develop our own thinking from tactical to strategic. As teachers we often get stuck in what we are doing and we fail to take a step back and look at the big picture and how to develop plans to implement solutions to our problems.

This class was all about technology and how best to design it for it to be a meaningful tool in your classroom.  This class revolved around the creation of a large web design project called the Big Kahuna.  Many of the weekly assignments were designed to help in the creation of this web site that you can find below.  Learning by design, human-computer interaction, aesthetics, iterative design, evaluation, and collaboration are covered in this unique course.

Education in the 21st century will probably have a large online presence and this class was my introduction to teaching students online.  I was introduced to make Content Management Systems (CMS) but ended up concentrating on Haiku LMS because it was the program that I felt most comfortable and it is the LMS that my district is using in their online classes.  Through this class I was able to create a Haiku course for World War II in which my students can enroll in the use as an online class. the authoring program that I also chose for this e-portfolio. The course focuses on ways in which teachers and students can broadcast their ideas and information to the outside world for purposes of collaboration and communication.

The main focus of this course was to take a closer look at educational research, and how to evaulate and anlayze published studies. This was by far my most challenging course in the program because part of the research dealt with my biggest weakness, Statistics!.  We were required to create online surveys and then use statistical analysis to figure out what the research was really saying.  We were also asked to create a literature review of 16 online articles from respected journals in history.  We were then as to analyze each article to see what useful information coudl be gained.

I am currently enrolled in my last semester of the MAET program and are beginning the challenge of creationg a Capstone Portfolio that will represent what I have learned in my time in the program and how my teaching has changed as a result of this new information.  It is a complelation of all of the hard work I have done during the MAET program in one nice organized place.

This is the second course that I am currently enrolled in and it focusses on the development student portfolio skills.  So far, we have been introduced and ask to compare various platforms available for creating portfolios like Google Sites, Evernote, Wix, Wikis and Weebly. I decided to use Wix for my portfolio and I believe I will have a good representation of my work in my portfolio by the end of the semester.
